An Early TBT: Young (feat. a sad maknae)

I'm missing Loco a lot today and we still have a while to go before he's done with his military service (like 9 months its fine...I'm fine).

It's a lie I'm not fine.









If you don't know Loco he is my Kpop (I know he's not Kpop) alter ego even more so than Minho is. Loco is one of the most socially awkward famous people I've ever seen and I relate to him on almost every level (except he's actually cool and talented and I'm.....not.)

I first learned about Loco after a snapchat from Key's BFF who was watching It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets (which I'm rewatching as I write this post). She sent me a clip and told me I needed to watch it for Loco, which might be the most accurate thing she's ever said.

This clip will forever live in my memory.

Like me, he doesn't know how to do normal things. He shows how awkward he is in every episode and does things I do when around others too. He's a gift to this planet. 

He has an instagram dedicated to his dog and it's adorable af. I'm also pretty sure his mom is running it while he's in the military which is more adorable. 

 

He's a part of the AOMG crew and is the cutest little bean.

I'm pretty sure this is him hearing someone walk into the house and low key panicking. I do this at my own house even though I know exactly who it is.







Anyway I love him and miss him and am ready for him to come back. I need him to reboot It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets so I can relate to him more.

I Was Duped...Again (feat. Song of the Week)

Embarrassing Backstory:

I listened to Highway to Heaven by NCT127 when it first came out and my brain thought "huh. An song in English? Odd they didn't promote it that way." (Let it be known it was NOT the English version). Needless to say this was my face when they started promoting the English version

I was duped. I was made a fool. I am embarrassed.

Today:

I was listening to WayV's Love Talk. Now the music video, mind you, is in English. (I had to triple check this so I didn't make a bigger fool of myself). However YouTube Music has been playing me the Chinese version for me in my car. So I naturally assumed I was duped again.

Tonight I go to watch the music video. And imagine my surprise when IT'S ALL IN ENGLISH!!

Apparently NCT/WayV can sing whatever they want and I won't know what language they're singing in and love it anyway.

Anyway this is my song of the week because Ten singing "Touch me. Tease me. Feel me up." has been stuck in my head on repeat all week. (Be warned this is the music video so it IS in English.....stupid multilingual assholes confusing me)

Surprise from 2016!

I can't say for sure how I ended up on this. I'm not sure if it appeared in my feed, or if it came up after I watched something else. Either way I am OBSESSED with this performance.

I'm a ginormous fan of Epik High. Their concert was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

B.I.! I'm miss your beautiful face. I can't wait for you to start making music again!

Mino. I'll admit I slept on this guy a bit. All I saw was a G-Dragon wannabe. But then I saw him on It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets, then his solo song came out. Now I just adore him. His first rap break in "So-So" is brilliant. He is charming and a little goofy, while being suave. I love this guy.

Song of the Week: Money

Money by E'Dawn

I'm annoyed with myself that this is my song of the week. If I'm being totally truthful it's probably been my song of the week the last two weeks...

This may be controversial... but I'm not a huge fan of Hyuna or E'Dawn. (I refuse to call him Dawn. I just can't.) Their whole mess is annoying. I feel like they are famous for being in a relationship. (And most relationships when you are 23 don't last. So like what happens when they break up and lose this marketing strategy?)

Also. They both violated their contracts. Which bothers me... I know the no dating thing is ridiculous, but it's standard for any idol. It's not like they don't know what they are signing up for. I also feel bad for Pentagon. Their rap line, with E'Dawn, was one of the best in the business. It's still fantastic. Maybe they are better off. I don't know.

In summary, I was fully prepared to not like his solo debut. But here I am. Listening to it. Loving it. Annoyed. The video is weird. The choreography is pretty good.

The "Solo Performance" version gives me serious G-Dragon "Crooked" vibes.

I'm so annoyed.

Monday night the Shinee Sisters lives changed. We saw freaking SUPERM IN REAL LIFE

We saw real life Lee Taemin. He performed Danger and then jumped into the stage. I'm not sure how Key's BFF survived seeing him dance in real life.

We saw Kai half naked and Sister Taemin screamed in my ear so loudly I might have gone deaf. To be fair he start hip thrusting. It was an event. I'm amazed she didn't pass out.

We saw Baekhyun flirt his way through his entire solo stage.

We saw Mark Lee be a legendary rapper and dancer. And a legendary translator.

We saw Lucas be an adorable flirt. I danced during his entire solo stage. It was so much fun.

We saw Ten perform New Heroes AND Dream in a Dream which he re-choreographed just for us. It was beautiful and changed my life.

We saw Taeyong not only hump the stage (I almost passed out) but he then turned around and not 5 minutes later was being an adorable child having the time of his life. Him doing the wave with the crowd made my heart melt. I also want to be a part of his crew because they just had a great time.

My respect for all these artists went through the roof which I didn't know was possible. It was such an amazing concert and I can't believe I got to see them in real life. None of us can really process so I'm just going to share photos and cry that it's already over.

The lights were amazing. Both with the light sticks and the stage lights. Badass.

Lucas was his own hype man during his solo stage and it was adorable af.

I think I literally forgot to breathe during Ten's solo stages. I've seen one video of it so far and its probably because everyone was in a trance (This was all I got and I don't even remember taking this)

I apologize for my poor photography skills but I was entranced it's not my fault. I blame them. (I also FREAKED when I saw Lucas had blue hair because this bitch was NOT READY)

We also saw Baby Don't Stop and the absolute CHAOS that ensued when that beat dropped was insane. Keep in mind we went to the Fort Worth show so there was no set list yet.

Kai's solo stage was so sinful. I don't have words. (Sorry I couldn't decide what to film, the screen or himself. I was mess okay. He didn't have a shirt on)

This is the best I got from the concert picture/video wise but my heart is full of happiness after seeing these boys in real life. It was an incredible concert and I may have almost died several times from being so excited but I lived (I think). These boys have worked SO HARD to put all this together while promoting and working with their own individual schedules including promoting with their own bands. I hope they stay healthy as they work their way through their tour and have as much fun as I did at the concert.

Let's Talk Girl Groups Part 1

Something we have not really talked about much here is girl groups.

To be clear it's not because we don't love girl groups! We do very much so, but we are women easily distracted by beautiful boys

I mean can you blame us?


What's not to love?








There are some seriously badass women in Kpop though. This particular post series will focus on the groups (solo girls need their own appreciation post)


The first girl group I (Maknae Minho) discovered was probably Blackpink. I watched Boombayah and tried to figure out where they had been my whole life.

I came across Red Velvet next and wasn't sure about them. One second they were bubble-gum cutesy, the next they're doing dark and mysterious. These ladies gave me some serious whiplash, but I'm here for it.

Another older and fabulous group is Mamamoo. If you like powerhouse vocals you don't need to go any further.

If we're talking girl groups though we have to throw a shout out to the ladies who gave girl groups a strong start.

 f(x) (Amber is possibly the coolest person and I wish I was half as cool as her)

EXID. (if you don't know that EXID song just watch any variety show and SOMEONE will dance to it at some point)

Sister Introduction #3

HELLO!

Sorry I am late to the party!

I am the second oldest of the SHINee sisters, but I am Taemin!

I am Taemin for two major reasons :

1) I LOVE to dance! ( I am a horrible dancer- not Taemin like) All I watch is an unhealthy amount of practice videos. I love learning the choreography of just about everything!! ( I just took 20 mins deciding on my favorite part of Danger to use)

I also regret not becoming one of Taemin's female backup dancers. 

2) Taemin's confused expressions are 90% of what I feel. I never know what is going on.

Song of the Week: Tattoo

The Boyz have also recently lost a member. I hate that his keeps happening and I need members to stop leaving bands it's breaking my heart.

This comeback is not their typical style.....and I LOVE IT.

When I saw the screencap for it I had to do a double take that it was in fact The Boyz. Then I got nervous....like what if they can't do a darker concept? But I worried for no reason at all because they nailed it. I love this song!

Enjoy this group of boyz (I'm sorry I'm the worst) who I really do love, but don't pay enough attention to!

Comebacks That Made Maknae Minho Cry: Take 2

Soooo I was supposed to post this last week and somehow never posted it...my bad!

1. No surprise that I'm out here crying over the Monsta X comeback. Not only did we get their title track, we got 2 WHOLE MUSIC VIDEOS!

First they drop Find You. Which, I will not lie, I did not realize was getting a music video. I felt like the worst Monbebe when Key's BFF texted me about it. I panicked and watched it at work (don't tell my boss).

Now I was unprepared for this music video to begin with. Add in that it's giving backstory to Dramarama? I screamed (It is about freaking time though. I've been needing this.) I think this just gave me more questions than actually answered anything. I also need to know why someone is always in a car crash with them. First Kihyun and Minhyuck in Shine Forever. The Joohoney and Kihyun in Dramarama. Now Hyungwon?


Then Follow finally comes out. Now Kihyun will be my bias until the day I die (I might have cried when I heard him and Joohoney's Mirror during the Beautiful tour but I am not a reliable source as I was freaking out), but my man I.M. was here for my life this comeback. His rap has me dead.

This song will also be making it onto my Christmas playlist. They are basically saying "Fa-la-la-la" so that counts right? No one can stop me.

2. WayV. My Chinese babies who I couldn't be prouder of. These boys deserve so much love. Kun is being an amazing leader for these boys who if left to their own devices.....well we've all seen that Rainbow V episode. Anyway enjoy their latest comeback cause I. Am. Obsessed.

Shout out to my boy WinWin for FINALLY getting the lines he deserves. Also let's discuss that everyone (except XiaoJun) raps and I'm here for it?

3. A.C.E. Their title track Savage is pretty fantastic. Everyone sounds amazing, but the music video was not my favorite. Ask me in a week and I'll probably have watched it 100 times and love it.

This video however is SPECTACULAR! If you don't know Lia Kim look her up she is crazy talented! She has worked with A.C.E. many times before and I've never been disappointed any of their choreography. It's always flawless.

4. NU'EST put out Love Me and it's so good! This band confuses me though because some of the members voices don't match what they look like...if that makes sense. Like one of them sings way higher than I expect him to. It surprises me every time. 

I think that's all my brain can handle talking about this time. Who knows, there may be a Take 3 to this comeback heavy month.

Wonho

It's taken me several days to be able to actually type this post.

Just like all Monbebe I'm incredibly heartbroken by the news of Wonho leaving Monsta X. He has always been such a warm and hard working member and it breaks my heart to see him have to leave, especially in this fashion.

Wonho deserves so much better than this. He has always struggled with his confidence and I really fear what this whole turn of events will do to him. I wish nothing but the best for him and hope that he comes out on top of all of this mess. I hope he comes out the other side of this the strong, beautiful, and warm hearted Wonho that we all know and love.

As for the rest of the members, I hope that they are showering him with the love he deserves, but also still taking care of themselves. They are still working hard promoting their new album and I hope they are able to find time to deal with this challenging situation.

It's Halloween! (Well it was on Thursday.) Thus, it is time for the greatest Halloween song of all time!

This is the performance version. It's the important version. Key's hair is important. Jonghyun's ponytail should be offensive, but it's not. Onew's sweats are offensive. But he still manages to look adorable. Taemin is giving me strong 90s vibes. Minho and his blazer... Be on the lookout for a brief glimpse of the light up shoes. I love everything about this video.
